Technology in the Classroom

After having Chromebooks in the classroom for two years, I have realized that I am not just teaching content, but life skills.  My instruction has evolved and is still evolving from the use of computers as a glorified worksheet to collaborative projects and tools for reflective practice.

History is the telling of stories, orally, orthographically, and now, digitally.  Throughout the year, students will be directed in this process with the use of various technological applications and tools, and according to the common core reading and writing guidelines.

Incorporating technology into content and pedagogy (methods of teaching), provides a classroom atmosphere of full engagement in learning, with a focus on the development of higher order thinking, according to the TPACK model.   Use of the SAMR model, assists teachers in producing specific lessons for this purpose.

The categories below provide a "library" of information and tutorials for parents/guardians and students, as well as examples of lessons/activities that lead to collaboration, creation, and higher order thinking.
